Daniel Craig Confirms He Will Return As James Bond

Daniel Craig has been admittedly coy when it comes to whether or not he will reprise his role as James Bond in the popular spy franchise, but he has finally confirmed the reports.

“I’ve been quite cagey about it, I’ve been doing interviews all day and people have been asking me and I think I’ve been rather coy, but I kind of felt like if I was going to speak the truth I should speak the truth to you,” Craig told Stephen Colbert on “The Late Show.”

Colbert then asked the “Spectre” star to shoot him straight and Craig finally confirmed reports that he will be returning with a simple, “yes.”

“I couldn’t be happier,” he added after a roar of applause from the audience.

Craig revealed that he knew he would be returning for “a couple of months,” and while he claims he always wanted to, there have been conflicting reports for a reason. Two days after he finished filming “Spectre” in 2015, Time Out London asked him if he was going to continue playing the role. He gave them a response he now regrets.

“I’d rather break this glass and slash my wrists,” he said after finishing his fourth film with the historic franchise. “I’m over it at the moment. We’re done. All I want to do is move on.”

Colbert finally got to the bottom of the Bond actor’s blunt comments by calling him out point-blank.

“There’s no point in making excuses about it but it was two days after I finished shooting the last movie. I went straight into an interview and someone said: ‘Would you do another one?’ And I went ‘No!'”

“And instead of saying something with style and grace,” Craig added, “I gave a really stupid answer.”

The upcoming film will be a milestone movie for the franchise as it will be the 25th in the spy series. It will be Craig’s fifth film.
