College football is back tomorrow, and I couldn’t be prouder of everybody in America for coming this far.
Tomorrow’s slate of games isn’t outstanding, but it’s more than enough to wet the whistle before the big games start rolling in Thursday. It’s the first taste we get, and it should be more than enough to satisfy our dying thirst for football.
It can’t be overstated how important the return of football is for America and the happiness it will bring to the public. Things will be slightly different when the sun comes up tomorrow morning. Our beer will taste just a shade colder, our spirits will be just a little bit higher, our optimism will see a slight tick upwards, the women will appear slightly more attractive, our burgers and brats will be a little juicier, and our country will seem a little better off than it was the day before. This is what the return of football gives us.
Those who know this feeling won’t be able to explain it with words, and those who don’t know will never be able to understand. How can you explain the atmosphere of a packed college stadium under the lights as two top teams battle it out? The only way to understand the experience is to be there and see it for yourself.
I’m proud of everybody in America. We’ve had a rough few weeks, but those darks days will soon be behind us. We’re 24 hours away from the return of football, and I can’t wait.
