L’Oreal Transgender Model Fired For Racist Facebook Rant
Beauty company L’Oreal Paris hired and fired one of its transgender models all within a couple of days this week.
Munroe Bergdorf was a part of the brand’s YoursTruly True Match campaign, which promises to provide makeup for 98 percent of skin colors.
Celebrated as the new face of modern diversity, Bergdorf went on a Facebook rampage to complain about all white people:
Honestly I don’t have energy to talk about the racial violence of white people any more. Yes ALL white people. Because most of ya’ll don’t even realise or refuse to acknowledge that your existence, privilege and success as a race is built on the backs, blood and death of people of color… Your entire existence is drenched in racism. From micro-aggression to terrorism, you guys built the blueprint for this shit. Come see me when you realise that racism isn’t learned, it’s inherited and consciously or unconsciously passed down through privilege. Once white people begin to admit that their race is the most violent and oppressive force of nature on Earth… then we can talk.
What a doozy.
I’m not a scientist and I’m fairly sure Bergdorf isn’t either. So where is she getting these claims that white people’s “entire existence is drenched in racism” and it isn’t learned but rather “inherited through privilege?”
I don’t recall my biology professor teaching us that racism was a genetic inheritance. I must have been absent that day.
And I also must have missed the lecture in sociology about white working class people in Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylvania building their existence on the “backs, blood, and death of people of color.”
So L’Oreal dropped her.
L’Oréal champions diversity. Comments by Munroe Bergdorf are at odds with our values and so we have decided to end our partnership with her.

And somehow, people are still upset. Bergdorf urged her followers to boycott the brand and plenty of people rushed to her defense.
Until black people can speak openly about the racism they’re subjected to without being fired from jobs or killed then society is trash.

I particularly enjoy the ‘society is trash’ sentiment. Nice.
I wonder if Bergdorf remembers that she was hired to promote diversity and open mindedness. Maybe she needs a refresher: when you say all white people are racist, you’re excluding an entire people from engaging in any sort of conversation about diversity.
Yes, racism is important to remember and learn about (take note, statue dismantlers). But you can’t effectively fight racism with counter-racism. Munroe Bergdorf wasn’t fired because L’Oreal was racist, transphobic, homophobic, or any other -phobic.
She was fired because she herself is promoting a homogenous counterculture with no place for anybody different.
