The NFL season starts tomorrow, and we can all rejoice because Colin Kaepernick is not playing.

Kaepernick infamously refused to stand during the national anthem. That sparked plenty of outrage, but to be honest, I was not for the dual-threat quarterback disappearing simply over his anthem protest.

I thought it was incredibly stupid, uneducated, not well thought out and offensive. One dumb decision is not enough to have a guy tossed to the sideline. It’s the NFL. People get second, third and fourth chances for a variety of different reasons after making very stupid decisions.

However, it didn’t just end with the national anthem protest. Kaepernick went out of his way to praise deceased Cuban dictator Fidel Castro, he wore socks depicting police officers as pigs and his girlfriend compared the Baltimore Ravens owner to a slave master.

It was revealed Wednesday morning the actions of Kaepernick’s girlfriend, Nessa Diab, cost him a contract with the Ravens. Kaepernick is now so radioactive not even teams with horrible quarterbacks will touch him.

You know you’ve royally screwed up when the New York Jets, Jacksonville Jaguars and Cleveland Browns won’t touch you with a 10-foot pole.

Kaepernick’s absence from a roster will hopefully send the signal around America that disrespect for the police, praise for dictators and comparisons to slave owners will not be tolerated. A person’s right to speak doesn’t provide them a bulletproof vest against criticism.

The NFL is a business, and Kaepernick voluntarily agreed to play for the San Francisco 49ers. If employees do things that upset the upper management, it shouldn’t be a surprise when they are let go. Why would this be different simply because you can throw a football? If anything, Kaepernick being unemployed is proof that the standards are the same regardless of the industry.

People might disagree, but it’s a great day whenever a guy who loves murderous dictators and disrespects America is not given a massive platform to spew garbage.
