The amount of NFL players that didn’t stand for the national anthem on Sunday is nothing short of unacceptable.

The national anthem protest, originally started by Colin Kaepernick over a year ago, made a resurgence on Sunday with approximately 12 percent (180) of NFL players either sitting or kneeling for the national anthem, according to ESPN’s Darren Rovell. If you add in the players from the three teams that remained in the locker room during the anthem, 23 percent of the league didn’t stand.

The Tennessee Titans, Seattle Seahawks and Pittsburgh Steelers (with the exception of former Army Ranger Alejandro Villanueva) remained in the locker room while the national anthem played.

Players from the Baltimore Ravens, Jacksonville Jaguars, Cleveland Browns, Denver Broncos, Detroit Lions, Miami Dolphins and the Oakland Raiders, New Orleans Saints, New England Patriots, Washington Redskins, Kansas City Chiefs, Green Bay Packers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers either took a knee or a seat for the anthem.

Many others either stood and locked arms or stood with a fist raised in seeming solidarity with those who sat or kneeled.
