It’s not surprising that the majority of Americans were revealed to support the legalization of gambling in a recent poll.
Support is now at 55 percent, according to the poll conducted by The Washington Post and the University of Massachusetts – Lowell.

A 55-percent majority approve of legalizing betting on pro sporting events, a flip from almost a quarter century ago, when a federal law went into effect banning the practice in most of the country and 56 percent of Americans disapproved of legalization in a Gallup/CNN/USA Today poll.

According to the Post-UMass Lowell poll, just more than 1 in 5 sports fans (21 percent) have bet on professional sporting events in the past five years, and they’re more likely to be avid sports fans, men, pro football fans, nonwhites, and under 40 years old.
I don’t know a single person who would be surprised by these poll results. Every adult man I know gambles on just about every sport, and I’m not talking about just gambling a little bit. They bet big.
Nothing makes a football game more interesting than when money is involved. I’ll watch a game between Purdue and Massachusetts if I have $200 on the line. Otherwise I likely wouldn’t. This is why gambling is so popular. It automatically makes everything way more interesting, draws more viewers and has people coming back.
I’d also be willing to bet a lot of people who don’t even watch sports are unaware of the fact there is essentially a blanket ban in America on sports gambling.
Not having legalized sports gambling is so dumb because it just pushes the money off-shore accounts and sites. Hopefully sports gambling is legalized everywhere soon.
