Russell Westbrook signed the biggest contract in NBA history on Friday, which just so happened to be former teammate Kevin Durant’s birthday.
Westbrook signed a five-year, $205 million extension with the Oklahoma City Thunder making him the highest paid player in the association with the biggest guaranteed contract in NBA history.
The 28-year-old superstar’s whopping contract comes a little over a year after Kevin Durant bailed to join the Golden State Warriors and people can’t help but believe there’s no mistake he decided to sign on his former teammate’s birthday.
Coincidence that Russell Westbrook signed the biggest contract in NBA history on Kevin Durant’s birthday?

Westbrook hasn’t addressed any speculation about all that, but made it clear that Oklahoma City is the place he wants to be and he’s not going anywhere anytime soon.
“When you play in Oklahoma City you play in front of the best fans in the world, I’m looking forward to bringing everything I’ve got, for them, this city and for this organization,” he said in a statement. “WHY NOT?”
Westbrook is coming off an MVP season during which he carried his entire team. Now with their off-season additions of Paul George and Carmelo Anthony, it seems like he’s prepared to stick with the Thunder for the long haul.
