Apparently The WNBA Finals Ended Last Night
The Minnesota Lynx won the WNBA championship Wednesday night against the Los Angeles Spark, and I’m not sure anybody knew.
I pride myself on being one of the best sports journalist in the game. Nothing is more important to me than taking my profession super serious. There is absolutely no room for joking or mishaps in sports media.
You can imagine my embarrassment when I found out at about 10:30 a.m. EST Thursday morning that the WNBA Finals had wrapped up last night. If I’m able to crush beers all day Saturday and not miss a single beat of college football, how had I messed up so badly?
Then it occurred to me. Nobody actually cares about the WNBA, myself included. It’s a comedy act masquerading as a sports league. Why are we taking this poor product seriously? Is there anybody on the planet that would prefer watching missed layups and jump balls over LeBron James throwing down ally-oops? I don’t think so.
Upon reflection, I don’t actually feel bad, because as I have already said, there is no room for jokes in the sports media. The WNBA is absolutely a joke.
And before all of you jump down my throat with fake accusations of sexism, I think women’s hockey is awesome. Why? It’s actually exciting and impressive competition. The WNBA is not.
Can somebody please remind me around this time next year that the WNBA exists so I don’t forget when the finals are over? I would appreciate it.
