Rapper Thinks Jerry Jones Has Slave Owner’s Mentality Over Anthem Stance
Rapper Common thinks Jerry Jones’ stance on the national anthem shows he has the mentality of a slave owner.
The Dallas Cowboys legendary owner recently made it clear that players who refuse to respect the flag will not be allowed to play on his team.
Well, that didn’t sit too well with the star hip-hop singer.
Common told TMZ Sports, “It’s an owner mentality. It’s an owner like a slave owner mentality, to be honest. Like, ‘You gonna do what I say on this.'”
That’s one of the most ridiculous comments I’ve ever heard, and it’s really trivializing to the actual horrors of slavery around the world.
NFL players are employees on contracts. They are free to retire from the league at anytime, and they have the freedom to pursue different opportunities. We live in America. We have the freedom to quit any job we want if we don’t like what our boss tells us to do.
At the same time, a boss has say over the actions of his employees if they feel it’s damaging the brand. If Cowboys players don’t want to comply with the rules then they should leave. It’s no different than any other job.
