The dumpster fire is raging as hot as ever for the Cleveland Browns after they made a change at quarterback.

The Browns had been starting rookie DeShone Kizer, but coach Hue Jackson switched to Kevin Hogan Wednesday morning, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Hue released the following statement:

I’ve made the decision to start Kevin this week. We’ve liked what Kevin has been able to do within our offense when he’s been in there and he will ‪start on Sunday because that’s what we feel is best for our team at this point in time. This does not change the way we feel about DeShone going forward. He has worked extremely hard and still very much has a bright future. Right now, it’s better for him and his development to back up Kevin.

Such a weird move. The only way it makes sense is if Jackson honestly believes the season is already lost, and he’s protecting Kizer from getting murdered throughout the season.

This is very dumb if the call was made to go with Hogan because management and coaches think they can salvage a 0-5 start. That is never going to happen. Does anybody really believe Hogan gives the team a better shot at winning in the NFL than Kizer? Of course not.

This is just more proof that nobody has any idea how to pull Cleveland out of the pit of despair it’s in.
