White supremacist Richard Spencer isn’t sure if women should be allowed to vote.

Newsweek author Michael Hayden interviewed Spencer, and for some reason the infamous racist thought it’d be the perfect time to give a couple hot takes on women voting.

Hayden reported in part:

I spoke to Spencer this week, and in the context of a discussion about two documents that he admires, the American Naturalization Acts of 1790 and 1795, laws that once set out rules for the United States in limiting naturalization to only free white persons of good moral standing, I pointed out that the U.S. was a fundamentally different country at the turn of the 19th century. More specifically, I asked him if he wanted to return to a time in which women weren’t allowed to vote.

“I’m not terribly excited about voting in general,” Spencer said. “I think that mass democracy is a bit of a joke to be honest.”

I pressed him on the question again.

“I don’t necessarily think that that’s a great thing,” Spencer said of women voting in U.S. elections.

Coming out against democracy and women being allowed to vote only sentences apart is borderline hilarious. Not because being anti-woman or anti-democracy is funny. It’s not, but thinking you’re morally superior, and yet, being so stupid to say those things in an interview is downright laughable.

Imagine honestly thinking you have higher levels of intellect and morality than other people, and then turn around to tell a national publication women voting isn’t a great idea. I honestly don’t know if Spencer is a troll or if he believes any of his nonsense.

I’ve always said for a long time that I think most of these alt-right racists are nothing more than losers without friends. They’ve had no power or influence their whole lives and they’ll do whatever it takes to get some attention. Does anybody really think Richard Spencer was killing it with the ladies in college or at any point in his life? Almost certainly not, and being bad at something often makes people resentful.

No dude who gets regular sex or is in a stable relationship is honestly dumb enough to publicly say women shouldn’t be voting. Then again, this could just be a piece of performance art.
