Transgender woman Hannah Mouncey won’t be playing in an elite women’s football league in Australia anytime soon.

Mouncey, who is physically huge, was denied the opportunity to enter the AFLW’s draft. Sporting News has the following details on the situation:

Mouncey, who played for Ainslie in the AFL Canberra women’s competition, was denied on the grounds that the physical disparity would give her an unfair advantage.

“The AFL has made a decision that the physical disparity between Hannah and other AFLW players is significant, in that it would have an effect on the AFLW competition and give rise to an unreasonable advantage,” an AFL statement read.

Mouncey’s testosterone levels fall between those required by the International Olympic Committee, the same guidelines followed by the AFL.

In this case however, the AFL has ruled that the 27-year-old’s physical advantage would be too much over other athletes in the AFLW competition.

It is complete insanity to let men, even if they identify as women, compete against women in athletic events. You just can’t let it happen. There is this crazy thing called biology, and it dictates that men and women are very different. How different are we? Well, I’m a below average basketball player when playing against elite men, and I routinely lit up college women players in open gyms. Now imagine how bad it’d be if an actually talented guy stepped into the gym.

Could you imagine what would happen if a female fighter got into the ring with Conor McGregor? She’d be lucky to leave without serious brain damage. Why are people pushing the idea that there is no difference between and men and women when it comes to sports? LeBron James can put his head above the rim. Women in the WNBA struggle to consistently make layups, but we should absolutely let them play together.

Simply calling yourself a woman doesn’t mean you should be allowed to just join a women’s sports league.
