A lot of alarming allegations have come out against Harvey Weinstein over the past few weeks, but Lauren Holly’s just might be one of the more alarming.

The 53-year-old actress, best known for her role as Mary in “Dumb and Dumber,” recalled her encounter with the disgraced Hollywood executive on Canadian talk show “The Social” on Monday.

“I realized that I had a responsibility that I needed to come forward and say it,” she said after reading the bombshell report by The New York Times. “I didn’t want to go chasing after some publication, I didn’t want to post it on social media. It seemed like my voice was too quiet if I did that.”

Holly’s encounter with Weinstein happened in the late 1990s and, like many of his other accusers, took place in a hotel room where they were scheduled to have a meeting.

“Everything was absolutely professional from the get-go,” Holly recalled, until Weinstein asked to be excused and returned in a bathrobe.

“No doubt it was odd,” she explained. “However, when he walked in and he was in the bathrobe, he said, ‘OK, let’s get to it, this is what we’ve got going on at my company, these are the scripts we have in the pipeline, this is what I think might be right for you,’ and he gestured for me to follow him.”

Holly, who had already worked with Weinstein on “Beautiful Girls,” then followed him into the bedroom where he dropped his robe, went into the bathroom and used the toilet, Variety reports.

“At this point my head was exploding,” she said. “He keeps the conversation going, he finishes, he turns on the shower, he gets in the shower. He’s continually talking to me, he’s in the shower washing himself. Leaning out, asking me for responses.”

“My head is going crazy at this point. He’s acting like the situation is normal. He’s acting like we’re having a normal encounter. I’m thinking to myself, ‘Am I just a prude? Am I supposed to be more open minded?’ I didn’t quite know how to handle myself at that moment.”

After Weinstein finished in the shower, he got out and approached Holly completely nude.

“The adrenaline rush I felt, I wanted to flee, I was scared. He told me that I looked stressed and he thought maybe I could use a massage, maybe I could give him a massage,” she continued. “I began just sort of babbling like I was a child, I think it was just the fear.”

Holly dodged and said Weinstein should call the front desk to get a proper masseuse, at which point he threatened her and said it would be a bad decision if she left the room. At that point, she “pushed him and ran.”

The “Dumb and Dumber” star added that she described her encounter over dinner with several other people in Hollywood who advised her not to say anything “because it’s Harvey Weinstein.” She said the incident led her to stay away from the movie business for years.

Now Holly is hoping that the reports on Weinstein will lead to change in Hollywood.

“Things need to change,” the actress said. “Harvey Weinstein is our sacrificial beast.”
