The plot line of Louis C.K.’s new movie is eerily similar to the allegations that have been coming out about Harvey Weinstein, and it might flop as a result.

The comedian’s “I Love You, Daddy” presents a fictional story about a writer’s young daughter who meets a much older, well-known filmaker who she then dates–much to her father’s own disgust.

Many of the clips presented in the trailer show the other characters reactions to the inappropriate relationship between the girl, played by Chloe Grace Cortez, and the famous director, who is well-known for his lust for much younger women.

Although Weinstein didn’t necessarily target younger women, according to the countless allegations that have come out against him, this movie will undoubtedly lead viewers to think about him. And, for that reason, I wouldn’t be surprised if this one is a major flop at the box-office.

Even before the Weinstein allegations came out, Louis C.K. already had to defend the controversial movie against criticism.

“It’s just a f**king movie. We’re depicting oxygen-rich people who live in these beautiful apartments and offices saying whatever they want,” the comedian told The Hollywood Reporter last month. “Folks say sh*t to each other. You can’t think about the audience when you’re making the thing. If you do, you’re not giving them something that came out of your gut.”

Seems like he was rattled by criticism before Weinstein was exposed, who knows how he’s handling it now.
