Check Out The Special Uniforms Arizona State Will Wear To Honor Pat Tillman

The U.S. Army has opened a new investigation into the circumstances of the April death in Afghanistan of Cpl. Pat Tillman, a former professional football player killed in a "probable" friendly fire incident, officials said on December 6, 2004. The investigation was ordered on November 3 by then-acting Army Secretary Les Brownlee and was prompted by questions raised by Tillman's family about his death in a remote canyon in southeastern Afghanistan, Army officials said. One official said the investigation could trigger criminal charges if any U.S. personnel are deemed culpable in his death. Tillman is pictured in this June 2003 file photograph. The Arizona State Sun Devils will wear special uniforms honoring Pat Tillman during their November 4 game against Southern Cal.

Tillman played for ASU and for the Arizona Cardinals prior to joining the United States Army. He was killed in 2004 by friendly fire in Afghanistan.

ESPN reporter Darren Rovell tweeted out a photo of the special uniforms with the caption, “FIRST LOOK: Arizona State “Brotherhood” uniforms on 11/4 will honor Pat Tillman, active military & vets. Helmet has names of ASU vets.”

You can’t ever get enough of this stuff. The Tillman uniforms are already pretty cool by themselves, but adding on the names of ASU veterans takes things to the next level.

These uniforms are also a stark comparison between the cultures of the NFL and that of college football. NFL players refuse to stand for the national anthem, and college programs are honoring people who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for this country. It doesn’t get much more different than that.
