Is There Anybody Who Actually Breaks Beer Bottles During Bar Fights?

I’m a firm believer that nobody in real life breaks a beer bottle to use it as a weapon during a bar fight.

This might be surprising to most of you, but I have spent some time throughout my life inside of bars. I’m usually there for football games, and I’m certainly not there to fight. I think people who go to the bar and regularly get into conflict are complete morons. The bar is a place to have a couple beers with the guys and hit on some women you have no shot with, but it’s not a place for brawling.

Having said all that, movies and television would have anyone believe that the go-to move in a bar fight is to crack a beer bottle. I’m not buying it. I’m not believing this is a real thing for even a second.

We sparked up a bit of a conversation in the office, and one coworker said he actually tried this. He ended up just slicing up his hand. Like I said, doesn’t seem to be a realistic thing to do.

I’m looking for cover in the event a fight breaks out. Again, I’m there to drink a couple beers, and I’d love to leave in the same condition I came in.

Also, there are a lot better weapons to go for in the event of a fight. You could grab a stool, a knife or just about anything other than a broke glass bottle.

I refuse to believe this is a thing until I see this happen in person and it works. Until then it’s a work of fiction courtesy of Hollywood.
