Charles Barkley Has The Coldest Take Of All Time On Lonzo Ball’s Rookie Season

Lonzo Ball should have shut his dad up a long time ago if he didn’t want NBA players coming after him.

Sure being the second overall pick in the NBA draft comes with a lot of pressure, but when Lonzo’s loudmouth dad goes around bragging on his son and sh*t talking opposing players it takes that pressure to a whole new level.

Charles Barkley has been alluding to this for a while, but anyone who knows anything about competitive basketball could have seen it coming. The former player and NBA on TNT analyst gave an update on his cold take of Lonzo Ball’s rookie season when TMZ caught up with him just a few games into the season.

“I think guys are going at him. I think he’s nice kid, I think he’s going to be a heck of a player, but his dad has put so much pressure on him. He makes people not like him. So them boys is going to be going at his head,” Barkley said.

The Hall of Fame player doesn’t blame them either and says he’d be going after the kid if he was playing against him.

“Oh I would have been going at his head. No question. Would have been talking to him the whole time about his daddy,” Barkley said before taking a shot at Lavar himself.

“It’s not a good thing his dad put him under that type of pressure. Because his dad couldn’t play dead, and now he’s got everybody not liking his son. So his son’s going to have to deal with that.”

The next player the young point guard will have to deal with is John Wall of the Washington Wizards on Wednesday night in Los Angeles. Ball better be ready for a thrashing from his opponent, who told The Washington Post that he’s going to show “no mercy” for the rookie.

“Certain matchups you really get up for,” he added. “His dad has been talking . . . That makes me want to go out there and lead my team and play the best I can play.”
