If I knew scoring a date with Mandy Moore was as easy as sending a direct message on Instagram, I would have taken my shot at her a long time ago.

In an interview with People magazine published Wednesday, Moore revealed that she met her fiancé Taylor Goldsmith through the social media site, which should come as an absolute shock to just about anybody.

“I took a picture of their album and posted it on Instagram,” Moore says, explaining how she first met the Dawes frontman. “Somehow, Taylor saw it and sent a note to me. We started emailing back and forth, then we went on a date and the rest is history. Thanks Instagram, for helping me meet my fiancé!”

Despite this being a missed opportunity of a lifetime for me, I’m not going to let it keep me down. Clearly Moore was already into Goldsmith’s music, so this was pretty much a layup for him. And while I’m pretty upset with myself for missing out on my shot with my childhood crush, I’d like to thank her future fiancé for showing me how it’s done.

Excuse me while I DM all the single celebrities I’ve had my eye on out there.

And I should say best of luck to the happy couple, but if Goldsmith manages to screw this up you better believe I’ll be sliding straight in Mandy’s DMs to offer my shoulder to cry on.
