Chicago Bears tight end Zach Miller’s leg injury is way worse than a regular dislocated knee.

ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reports that doctors performed an emergency surgery “in an effort to save his injured left leg.” Mortensen cited “league and team sources.”

The surgery took place Sunday night.

“Vascular surgeons were called in in an effort to repair Miller’s leg, which including grafting tissue from the other leg to repair the damaged artery,” according to ESPN.

Miller went down attempting to make a catch in the end zone Sunday against the New Orleans Saints, and the injury is one of the most disgusting things you’ll ever see.

I can’t imagine what it’d be like to go into a football game healthy, and come out of the game with an amputated leg. Hopefully it doesn’t come to that, but something tells me his days of playing football are probably over. Players in their 30s who destroy a knee usually don’t bounce back.
