Bill Simmons really wants everybody to know that he’s in full support of the New England Patriots signing Colin Kaepernick as a backup quarterback.

Shortly after the news broke that the Patriots traded backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to the San Francisco 49ers late Monday night, the failed HBO show host tweeted that he thinks Kaepernick should take Garoppolo’s place on the team. And he made sure to put enough emphasis in the tweet to let everyone know just how badly he wants that to happen.

“I’m totally 100 million billion katrillion percent all-in on getting Kaepernick as the Pats backup QB,” Simmons wrote in the tweet.

Okay, we get it Simmons. You’re on Kaepernick’s side, but you know who probably isn’t? Bill Belichick. (RELATED: Tom Brady’s Future In New England Gets A Major Update)

Belichick has a well-oiled winning machine to run behind Tom Brady for the foreseeable future and Kaepernick would serve as nothing but a distraction for the reigning Super Bowl champion Patriots. Literally nothing.

Yes, Belichick has brought on players with big personalities that have caused distractions in the past, but none of those players have caused a divide in the NFL like Kaepernick’s national anthem protest did.

Add to that the reaction from fans across New England (except Simmons himself) and you can go ahead and bet on this never happening. Keep dreamin’, bud.
