Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston has been relegated to the bench for “a few weeks,” ESPN reports.
“Buccaneers are shutting down QB Jameis Winston for ‘a few weeks’ to rest his injured shoulder, per league source,” Adam Schefter tweeted Monday afternoon.

Things are not going well for Winston this year. The Bucs are an abysmal 2-6, and now he’s not even playing quarterback. If it’s any consolation for Tampa Bay, maybe this move will preserve some of Winston’s confidence. It hurts for the future of the franchise to go out there and get routinely crushed in heartbreaking losses. Once you break a quarterback’s confidence, it is difficult to get it back.
Don’t be surprised if this is the last we’ve seen of Winston this season.
