A new trailer for Paramount Network’s upcoming six part mini-series about the 1993 government siege of the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas, proves it’s going to be intense.

In the trailer that dropped Tuesday on YouTube, the leader of the compound David Koresh (played by Taylor Kitsch) tells the FBI that if you are going to “come pointing guns in the direction of my wife and my kids. I will meet you at the door anytime.” (RELATED: There Is A TV Mini-Series Coming Out About Waco, And It Looks Incredible)

“With an all-star cast including Michael Shannon, Taylor Kitsch, John Leguizamo, Andrea Riseborough, Rory Culkin, Melissa Benoist, Paul Sparks, Shea Whigham, Camryn Manheim, and Julia Garner, ‘Waco’ is a compelling six-part scripted event series based on the controversial and harrowing true story of the 1993 standoff between the FBI, ATF and David Koresh’s spiritual sect in Waco, TX that resulted in a deadly shootout and fire,” a release about the series read.

According to IMDB, the plot of the upcoming series is about how the “FBI and ATF seize religious leader, David Koresh’s Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas in the spring of 1993.”

“Based on two biographies, A Place Called Waco, by Branch Davidian David Thibodeau, one of the nine survivors of the final fire on April 19, 1993, and Stalling for Time: My Life as an FBI Hostage Negotiator, written by the FBI’s Head of Crisis Negotiation Unit Gary Noesner, the six-part scripted series ‘Waco’ will forever change the way the dramatic siege will be viewed,” the release added. “A quarter-century after this seminal moment in American history, Paramount Network will chronicle this true story told from several perspectives of those who were intimately involved.”

“WACO” premiers January 24, 2018 on Paramount Network.
