Detroit Lions wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr.’s “American Idol” audition was recently released by ESPN, and it’s very impressive.

Jones filmed the audition over last summer, and it won’t air until Spring 2018. The sneak peek is still very impressive.

Judges Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan and Katy Perry were all enjoying his singing pipes.

That question from Perry about why he chose football over singing is one of the dumbest questions I’ve ever heard. It’s not exactly a mystery why a guy on a $40 million contract decided to stick with the big money instead of pursuing an uncertain future as a singer. At least Luke Bryan seemed to have a clear understanding of what was going on.

Besides, he can always give singing a shot if his NFL career flames out or when it’s over. In the meantime, Jones should absolutely stick with where the money is.
