The college football regular season is over, and that means it’s time for my final observations on the great year of football.

Here are my four biggest takeaways.

1) Wisconsin silences all of its critics by finishing undefeated.

The Badgers successfully ran the table against their 12 opponents and were the only Power Five football team to finish the season with an undefeated record. There were plenty of skeptics when Paul Chryst got hired, and skepticism about this team before the season began. It’s nothing but crickets now.

Wisconsin controls their own destiny going forward, and it’s going to be great to watch.

2) Auburn looks unstoppable.

The Tigers looked like the best team in America Saturday when they upset Alabama. I don’t think they would have lost to anybody with the way they played. Pretty incredible that they have two losses and are still likely in the playoffs with an SEC championship win. Are we about to get our first two loss national champion?

3) Ohio State is headed to the Big Ten championship, but questions linger about J.T. Barrett.

Barrett went out of the victory against Michigan with a knee injury, which was apparently suffered during a pregame collision with a cameraman. Backup quarterback Dwayne Haskins had no problems securing a win for the Buckeyes. It almost seemed like the exact situation a couple years ago when Ohio State backup Cardale Jones won a national championship. We’ll all find out Saturday against Wisconsin.

4) Bret Bielema was finally shown the door at Arkansas.

I’ve said for over a year this was inevitable and the “experts” making millions on national television shows said I was wrong. Funny how quickly life comes at you. It’s also the definition of cold blooded to inform him he’s been fired as he walks off the field. It seems like there was a message being sent by doing that.
