In case anybody forgot, the music video for “Cherry Pie” is one of the best of all time and national pie day is all the excuse you need to take another look at the 1990 classic.
Music videos used to be a big deal. When I was younger I watched the Top 25 countdown on VH1 every Saturday, and many of you probably did the same. However, musicians these days don’t seem to put as much effort into the videos that accompany their smash hits and it’s a damn shame.
While Warrant is mostly forgotten as a band nowadays, “Cherry Pie” has some staying power, partly thanks to Guitar Hero, but mostly thanks to the music video.
The metal song was a certified hit, but to this day it’s the music video that people really remember — and Warrant didn’t have any of today’s special effects to spice it up either. It was as simple as music videos get with shots of the band playing in front of a white backdrop interspersed with flashes of a hot blonde in a red top, daisy dukes and cowboy boots.
It doesn’t get any more American than that. Enjoy.
