The Washington Valor are holding open tryouts for the upcoming arena football season, and I think I might be obligated to give that a shot.

I don’t know if you can be a sports guy taking over the internet and not also try to play pro football at the same time. Seems like something that just has to be done.

The Valor games are also electric. I went to a couple this past year, and for very little money you can drink and eat as much as you want. It’s a dangerous game if you’re a fan, but it’s worth playing. I’m thinking it might be time to go ahead and step out on the field.

I’m 6′ 0.5″ and 180 pounds. On paper I have the perfect build to be a great dual threat arena league quarterback. Think of a Baker Mayfield style player who just throws it worse, isn’t nearly as fast, way fatter and not nearly as athletic.

There are also some legit concerns though. I just suffered a brutal concussion that I’m still getting over, and my body isn’t exactly in prime shape these days. Trust me, I’m reminded of this by just about every woman I’ve ever talked to at a bar (props to me).

Another problem is that I haven’t played organized football since the eighth grade. I was kind of a utility player, and I think my career long rush was about 13 yards. Not exactly eye-popping stats. I eventually gave it up so that I could win state championships in basketball. No big deal. A less humble person would probably feel the need to brag.

So it all leads me to asking whether or not it’d be worth it to try out. Can I risk more injuries for the entertainment of the masses and the chance to cement myself as more than just an internet pioneer? I guess we’ll all just have to wait and find out.
