Sports pundit Danny Kanell couldn’t have been more right about the playoff committee than he was with a Monday morning tweet.

He tweeted the following:

The Lies: Regular season matters Conference championship matters Strength of schedule matters

The Facts: SEC gets automatic bid/favored status “Unequivocally better” means “we think so but have no idea” Criteria is written so committee can explain any away choice they make

The more I think about this situation the more it eats away at me. Did I ever think I’d be sitting here defending Ohio State’s honor and playoff resume? No I didn’t at all, but we don’t always get to pick our battles. Sometimes you just have to pick up a weapon to defend the defenseless.

But honestly, what the hell was the committee doing? Do conference championships mean nothing? Do quality wins mean nothing? We literally have no consistency or clue what is going on. Perhaps we should shut the whole thing down until we can figure what is going on.

Ohio State has better wins, won the conference and gets left out in the cold. I guess they should spend more time playing FCS schools like Mercer. Apparently that’s what the committee is looking for.
