The United States Supreme Court will hear oral arguments today to determine the future of sports gambling in America.

ESPN reported the following on the case:

On Monday, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear a case that will not only shape the future of American sports betting, but also begin to divvy up a market that experts say could be worth as much as $5.8 billion in annual revenue. The case is centered on the federal ban on legal sports betting, the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act of 1992 (PASPA) and pits New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie against the NCAA, NFL, NBA, NHL and Major League Baseball. Former U.S. Solicitor General Ted Olson will represent New Jersey, while Paul Clement will argue for the sports leagues.

This is such a big day for gamblers everywhere. We might finally get rid of the idiotic laws that have those of us who gamble to do it offshore or under the table and off the books. I can’t figure out for the life of me why sports gambling isn’t legalized everywhere. It’s apparently the only time our greedy government doesn’t like making money.

Here’s the reality of the situation. I’m going to gamble whether it’s legal or not. That’s just simply a fact, and there are millions of people like me out there. The government you’d think would want in on the action. I guess maybe there’s just too much common sense in that line of thinking.

In fact, I might have to pay Vegas a little trip if PASPA gets thrown in a trash can, which ESPN says probably won’t be determined until June. I’ve never really cared about the Supreme Court before, but they can be my heroes today.

Do what Wisconsin couldn’t against Ohio State, and win this one for me and the millions of Americans out there like myself. It needs to be done in the name of freedom.
