New York Jets wide receiver Jeremy Kerley had a pretty interesting excuse for why he recently failed a drug test.

Jets beat reporter Kerley tweeted the following about the situation, “WR Jeremy Kerley said he wasn’t sure how a banned substance got into his system. Suggested a ghost might have done it. #Jets.”

There are bold strategies to blame for a failed drug test, and then there are insane theories. Here’s the thing: how are we sure that it wasn’t a ghost to blame? It seems like the burden of proof for this one is on the NFL to prove it wasn’t a ghostly spirit responsible for the banned substance in Kerley’s system.

Honestly, if I was the commissioner, there’s no way I’d end up punishing him. The excuse is just too good. The creativity points should absolutely get Kerley off. Goodell needs to do the right thing, and let this one slide.
