LeBron James made a statement in the Cleveland Cavaliers game against the Washington Wizards on Sunday both with his play and his shoes.

James put up 20 points, 15 assists and 12 rebounds in the Cavs 106-99 win over the Wizards, but it was his sneakers that had everybody talking after the game.

The Cleveland star wore a white shoe on his left foot and a black one on his right with the word equality written across the back of each one. Although James changed shoes at halftime, everyone was interested to see what inspired the shoe choice after the game.

“Obviously, we know where we are right now,” James explained. “And we know who’s at the helm here,” James said of Donald Trump who he’s criticized openly on multiple occasions.

“Obviously, I’ve been … very outspoken and well-spoken about the situation that’s going on at the helm here. … Equality is all about understanding our rights, understanding what we stand for and how powerful we are as men and as women, black or white or Hispanic. It doesn’t matter your race.”
