Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield won’t win a national championship in college, but he will leave the game as one of the greatest players ever.

Mayfield has lots of critics and haters, and I’ve been one of his most vocal critics at times. I’ve never doubted his abilities on the field. There’s no questioning them. The kid can flat out play, but I’ve had problems with some of his antics.

None of that matters anymore because Mayfield silenced every critic he had last night against Georgia. That kid went out there and left it all out on the field. I saw a warrior last night, who even in defeat, was incredible.

I might not like Mayfield, but I was hoping he’d win. His journey from a two-time walk-on to Heisman winner was just too good to end before a national championship. Unfortunately it did, but that doesn’t diminish any of his accomplishments.

I’m actually excited to see Mayfield play in the NFL. That’s not something I ever would have said a few months ago, but he proved everybody wrong last night. Just an incredible performance by an incredible quarterback. Can’t wait to see what he does at the next level.
