Tom Brady has injured his right throwing hand just days ahead of the AFC championship game this Sunday.

It happened on the Patriots’ first practice of the week Wednesday. An unnamed teammate accidentally ran into Brady and caused him to land on his hand and jam it pretty badly. Brady immediately went in to have an X-ray done and skipped a scheduled press conference to meet with medical personnel.

Brady is still unsure whether he’ll be able to practice on Thursday. He still has some swelling and pain, but the Patriots have made it clear that he will play in Sunday’s game.

And while the timing isn’t great, this isn’t Brady’s first injury this season. According to the Patriots’ injury report, he’s been battling a shoulder and an Achilles injury during the second half of the season.

As much as the Jaguars might want it, there’s no indication that it’s going to slow Brady down. In his nearly 20 years in the NFL, Brady has never once missed a playoff start. And if the Pats do advance against the Jaguars this weekend, don’t expect any nerves. This would be Brady’s eighth Super Bowl in his 18 years in the league.
