Tom Brady held his first press conference in two days after injuring his thumb Wednesday, and still not much is known about the ambiguous injury.

So far, all we know is that Brady was injured by a defensive teammate during practice on Wednesday while running a drill. Sources close to the team are saying Brady fell on his throwing hand and jammed his thumb. Not many details are known beyond that.

This morning, Pats head coach Brian Belichick gave a brief press conference and refused to talk about Brady’s hand situation. He didn’t disclose much information beyond “today is Friday.”

So when Brady entered the press room today, reporters were poised to fire off as many thumb questions within a 5 minute span as possible.

What they got instead was a lot of shirked questions and a QB dressed like he was late for a flight to Iceland.

“I’m not talking about it,” said the guy wearing bright red gloves. When asked if he’d play on Sunday with the injury, Brady simply answered, “We’ll see.”

Now, the average football fan might take this stuff at face value and legitimately believe that Brady is hurt. But I’m not your average football fan. I see the truth behind the truth. And, as I mentioned this morning, this smells like classic Belichick diversion tactics.

Think back to the first week of January. Seth Wickersham wrote about a potential riff developing between Pats owner Bob Kraft, Belichick, and Brady. And people ate that up like it was free ice cream on a hot July day. And the Pats kept their head down, had a perfect practice attendance that week, and annihilated the Titans a week later.

Sure, Brady might have tweaked his hand a little. But this guy’s unstoppable. And if you think he’s gonna let a bruised thumb stop him from clinching another AFC championship title, think again.
