The trailer for “Unsane” was released Monday, and it’s out of control.
The plot of the Steven Soderbergh film, according to IMDB, is, “A young woman is involuntarily committed to a mental institution where she is confronted by her greatest fear–but is it real or is it a product of her delusion?”
The trailer is absolutely terrifying as the woman tries to find out whether or not she’s actually going insane.
Take a second to actually think about the terror and horror behind this concept. Nobody is going to believe that you’re sane if you’re in a mental hospital. Why would they? You’re in a mental hospital.
You could be perfectly fine, they won’t listen or let you go no matter what is happening. I’m not sure I can think of scarier situations. What would you even do in a situation like this one? I think the best plan would be to lay in wait for a long time, plan and then make one major attempt at an escape. Trying to repeatedly break out is just going to result in getting restrained on one of the beds. You have one shot and you’d have to get it right.
The concept behind this movie is incredible, and hopefully it lives up to the hype. Nice to see Hollywood finally have another real original idea.
