Lena Dunham and her fellow “Girls” creator Jenni Konner are headed back to the network with a new comedy series starring Jennifer Garner, according to Variety Thursday.

Garner will return to television for the eight-episode series on HBO called “Camping,” written and produced by Dunham and Konner. It is based on a popular series in the U.K. by the same name, created by Julia Davis, who will also work on the project.

The role will not be what fans are used to from Garner as she will play Kathryn Siddell-Bauers, described by Konner and Dunham as “messy, tough and provocative and really really fun. We love Jennifer’s restraint and comedic timing, and we can’t wait for the warmth and intelligence she’ll bring to our central character, Kathryn. It’s truly a dream to have her first on our call sheet. Now we just have to write her some stunts.”

According to TVLine, the character she will play is “a controlling L.A. mom who is far less cheerful than her Lululemons imply.”

“It tells the story of Walt’s 45th birthday, which was supposed to be a delightful weekend back to nature, at least according to his obsessively organized and aggressively controlling wife Kathryn. But when the camping trip gathers Kathryn’s meek sister, holier than thou ex-best friend and a free-spirited Tagalong in one place, it becomes a weekend of tested marriages and woman on woman crime that won’t soon be forgotten,” a description about the series read.

The new show is the first one for Dunham and Konner since their raunchy “Girls” series ended after six seasons in 2017.

Garner’s return marks more than a decade since she was on the small screen. Her last series “Alias” on ABC ended in 2006. Since that time she has focused on her film career, starring in such big name films as “Dallas Buyers Club,” “The Odd Life of Timothy Green” and “Miracles From Heaven.”
