Atlanta Hawks forward DeAndre Bembry was arrested early Friday morning after he was clocked driving his purple Dodge Charger at 128 mph.

The traffic stop occurred in Hotlanta shortly after midnight on I-85, where the speed limit is 55 mph. There were no reports of any “Do you know who I am?” spiels from the 23-year-old Bembry, which is sort of refreshing.

He was booked into the Atlanta City Detention Center on charges of reckless driving and speeding before being let go on a cash bond.

The Atlanta Hawks have released a statement:

We are aware of an incident involving DeAndre’ Bembry earlier this morning. We are still gathering information as it pertains to the situation, and out of respect for the legal process, we will have no further comment at this time.

The team recently elevated the Charlotte native to their active roster after spending time with their G League affiliate, the Erie BayHawks.

Bembry was drafted with the 21st overall pick by the Hawks out of Saint Joseph’s University. He’s played eighteen games for Atlanta this season, averaging five points and two rebounds.

The one question I have for DeAndre Bembry regarding the arrest is, what is more embarrassing: Getting caught driving 73 mph over the speed limit, or everyone now knowing you drive a purple Dodge Charger?
