A new preview for Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s upcoming movie “Rampage” was released Tuesday.

The Hollywood News has the following plot details:

Primatologist Davis Okoye (Johnson), a man who keeps people at a distance, shares an unshakable bond with George, the extraordinarily intelligent, silverback gorilla who has been in his care since birth. But a rogue genetic experiment gone awry mutates this gentle ape into a raging creature of enormous size. To make matters worse, it’s soon discovered there are other similarly altered animals. As these newly created alpha predators tear across North America, destroying everything in their path, Okoye teams with a discredited genetic engineer to secure an antidote, fighting his way through an ever-changing battlefield, not only to halt a global catastrophe but to save the fearsome creature that was once his friend.

Okay, let’s be honest about this movie. Odds that it’s a very good film aren’t high at all. Odds that it’s incredibly entertaining and fun on the other hand? Very high.

The Rock could star in just about any movie, and it’s bound to sell tickets. Now, it’s a different story about whether or not the movie will actually turn out to be a good film or not. Those are two very different ball games.

However, anything with massive genetically mutated animals and The Rock should be a pretty easy win for a film study. I would be a bit surprised if they somehow managed to get this movie to tank with ticket sales. Again, I don’t think anybody is expecting this to be an Academy Award winning film, but it’d be foolish to pretend it won’t rack up money.

“Rampage” is scheduled to be released April 20.
