Fergie Shakes Off Intense National Anthem Criticism

Fergie delivered what might have been the worst national anthem rendition of all time at the NBA All-Star game Sunday night, but the 42-year-old singer is chalking it up to nothing more than an “artistic risk.”

Her performance was so bad that NBA players and fans were either in disbelief or openly laughing as she droned on. Then just about everyone that watched back home let her have it on social media.

The “Glamorous” singer finally responded to the intense criticism on Monday, explaining that she wanted to do something special for the All-Star game. (RELATED: The NBA All-Stars’ Reactions To Fergie’s National Anthem Are Priceless)

“I’ve always been honored and proud to perform the national anthem and last night I wanted to try something special for the NBA,” Fergie said. “I’m a risk taker artistically, but clearly this rendition didn’t strike the intended tone. I love this country and honestly tried my best.”

We’d like to say better luck next time, but after that disastrous national anthem attempt we’re not sure if she’ll ever get the nod to sing before a big game.
