I set extremely high expectations for “Game Night,” and it didn’t disappoint at all.

The plot of the film, according to IMDB, “A group of friends who meet regularly for game nights find themselves trying to solve a murder mystery.”

Anybody who has been reading the site for the past couple months knows that I’ve been hyping this movie big time.

I’m a huge fan of Rachel McAdams, Jason Bateman and Kyle Chandler. All three are outstanding in this movie. The dynamic between McAdams and Bateman is outstanding, hilarious and entertaining to watch. Throw in Chandler as Bateman’s more successful brother, and it’s a recipe for huge success.

However, it’s Jesse Plemons who really steals the show as a jaded police officer and neighbor who has been essentially kicked out of the game night social circle. He doesn’t get a ton of screen time, but every second he’s featured the audience is left laughing.

It’s never easy for a comedy to find a perfect blend of seriousness and humor. “Game Night” doesn’t struggle with that at all. The audience follows the hunt for Chandler after his kidnapping, there are shootouts, plenty of laughs and a major twist at the end.

“Game Night” is a solid 8/10, and I would recommend seeing it.
