I finally got an opportunity to catch part five of the “WACO” mini-series on the Paramount Network, and we’re in for what should be an incredible finale.

We all know what happened at the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas. Scores of people were killed after the complex burned to the ground. The the end of episode five leaves the audience with the credits rolling moments after the FBI said to prepare a raid.

I was very skeptical of this series when I first heard about it. I knew that Taylor Kitsch and Michael Shannon are both outstanding, but it’s a tricky story to tell. Even after the first few episodes, which were all outstanding, I was curious as to why Kitsch’s portrayal of David Koresh was so positive. The point of view told by the Davidians in the show paints him as a religious zealot, but also relatively reasonable.

I’ve been wondering when or if we’d ever see a darker side to him. Well, that’s what we got in episode five. He losing his grip on the situation, and the people in the compound are starting to lose faith. The FBI believes that Koresh didn’t burn to death, but was shot by his best friend Steve Schneider. We’re seeing the cracks between these two as the series carries on, and I’m willing to bet a lot of money the show will have Schneider shooting Koresh in the back of the head.

“WACO” has blown away my expectations, and I can’t wait to catch the finale this upcoming Wednesday.
