Oakland Raiders coach Jon Gruden is at the NFL combine, and his tenure with the Raiders is already off to a great start.

Gruden has been out of coaching for a very long time. You’d think he’d kind of want to learn the new schemes and stuff. Nope. Gruden wants no part of that garbage.

“I still think doing things the old fashioned way is a good way…We’re going to try to lean the needle that way,” Gruden said as he lamented “data” and “analytics” getting involved in the modern era of football while at the combine.

The Gruden train is off to a hot start in Oakland, and I couldn’t be loving it more. Data? Forget about it. Analytics? Such a dumb thing to worry about. It’s all about running the ball, throwing deep passes, playing tough defenses, making plays and winning games. Everything else is a distraction.

Is it too early to place a wager on the Raiders going undefeated? That’s something I absolutely want to bet on. There’s also a chance this whole experiment goes up in flames, and that’ll be awesome too. Either way, I’m here for the ride.
