Terry Bryant was officially charged with felony grand theft on Tuesday accused of stealing Frances McDormand’s Best Actress award during the Governor’s Ball Sunday night, TMZ reported.

According to the outlet, Bryant — 47 — now faces years behind bars if he is found guilty of swiping the golden statue at the after-party following the 90th Academy Awards. (RELATED: Suspect Arrested For Stealing Frances McDormand’s Oscars Award Statue)

The Los Angeles Country District Attorney’s office filed the case earlier in the day. McDormand previously stated that she’s not interested in pressing charges, according to another report. However, because the statuette is actually the property of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, charges are still likely.

Bryant was arrested Sunday night shortly after he posted a bizarre video holding the honor while congratulating himself on the hard work it took to get it and then kissing the award.

If convicted of the charge, he could face up to three years in prison. As of this report, he remains behind bars after bail was set at $20,000.

McDormand was awarded the honor at this year’s Oscars for her performance in the movie “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.”
