Johnny Manziel is all aboard the support train for former Penn State star Saquon Barkley ahead of the 2018 NFL draft.

“He’s a beast…I’m pulling for him. I know that,” Manziel told TMZ Sports when asked about Barkley and him potentially being the top pick in the draft.

It’s pretty crazy that Manziel, a quarterback, is all about a running back going first overall. Seems a shade off brand for the Texas A&M Aggies legend and Heisman winner. I’m going to go ahead and speculate he probably feels this way because he has spent some time training with Barkley. It doesn’t take long to get close to somebody you’re training with. That’s very common in sports.

I’ve already been crystal clear that I’m firmly against using the top pick on a running back, but don’t misunderstand or twist my thoughts on Barkley. The guy is a beast, and I think he’s going to have a hell of an NFL career. He looks and plays like he’s straight out of a video game.

There’s just something about the risk though with a running back that will always give me pause. I still think Barkley will dominate if he stays healthy.
