The Seattle Seahawks released superstar cornerback Richard Sherman Friday.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter tweeted, “Seahawks have informed perennial Pro-Bowl CB Richard Sherman that they are releasing him today, per league sources. End has come for one of the most iconic players in Seattle sports history. Sherman will be a free agent this weekend.”

I’m a huge Richard Sherman guy ever since that incredible interview with Erin Andrews, and it’s sad to see the end of an era in Seattle.

Sherman’s season came to an early end after an injury this year, but he still should be a big time free agent prospect. He’s one of the best defensive players in the entire league when he’s healthy and at the top of the game.

He’s also already made plenty of money, which means he might be hunting for rings. That means the two most obvious landing spots are New England and Philadelphia. I think he could be a great fit for either.

It’s always sad to see an era end, especially one that was as entertaining as Seattle the past few years. Trust me, we still haven’t seen the end of Sherman. Not even close.
