A new bill in Wisconsin could effectively end tailgating in the state prior to sporting events.

Tailgating is a huge part of Wisconsin’s culture and sports atmosphere. However, Assembly Bill 433 might put an end to all of that.

The bill’s impact, according to Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty, is as follows:

A substitute amendment to Assembly Bill 433 was introduced last February. In short, the bill prohibits a person or business from charging someone who would consume alcohol on their property. Unless, of course, they obtain a license from a municipality.

The WILL legal analysis concludes that this could impact tailgating outside of a sports event. Consider a homeowner, with property outside of Lambeau Field, who wants to charge people to park on his lot. There could be no alcohol consumed on his property, under this amendment.

Yeah, I’m going to have to take a hard pass on this bill ever becoming law. Where do these lawmakers think they’re living? Communist North Korea? I thought this was America. I’m pretty sure our founding fathers would be repulsed at the idea a state government could shut down tailgating.

This country is all about having the freedom to do whatever you want. It’s not about being told by the government that you can’t get smashed on somebody’s front lawn just because of a dumb law. No thanks. We didn’t overthrow the Nazis so that we could come back here to be told what to do. You know who else doesn’t support crushing beers prior to a football game? ISIS and all the other terrorists running around the world.

Banning tailgates is such a stupid idea, and the government is ruining the opportunity for so many majestic things to happen. Do you have any idea how many women I’ve fallen in love with while shotgunning beers or playing flip cup? At least one. Now, I might have struck out miserably when trying to shoot my shot, but the point is I was still in love. Does that happen without a booze infused tailgate? Hell no it doesn’t.

I love Wisconsin, but my reps back home are failing me. Might be time to fire up those recall elections.
