HBO doesn’t plan on pinching pennies when it comes to the upcoming “Game of Thrones’ spin-offs.

The Hollywood Reporter reported the following Tuesday morning:

But HBO executives have made one thing clear: they aren’t playing it safe.

Speaking at a panel titled “The Best of HBO” at the INTV conference in Israel Tuesday, Francesca Orsi, HBO senior vp of drama, said the network has budgeted the Game of Thrones spin-offs near the level of the original series, and above the budget GoT had in its first few seasons. “$50 million (per season) would never fly for what we are trying to do. We are going big,” Orsi said.

This should make fans of ‘Game of Thrones’ everywhere super excited. Spin-offs generally are awful, unoriginal and no fun. It looks like HBO is already doing its best to make sure it doesn’t disappoint the loyal and rabid ‘GoT’ fanbase.

I would guess that every single season of the spin-offs would have at least ten episodes, and now we know the budgets will be north of $50 million. Having more than a $5 million an episode for a budget is a lot of money, even for HBO.

Let’s go! I couldn’t be more amped for any “GoT” content HBO can throw my way. These episodes and new spin-offs can’t hit my television quickly enough.
