The Navy SEAL responsible for delivering the fatal shot to Osama bin Laden defended the Second Amendment with a simple tweet Wednesday.

Rob O’Neill, who’s now a bestselling author and Fox News contributor, silenced gun control extremists by explaining the simple motive behind the constitutional amendment.

“The second amendment wasn’t composed so we could hunt,” he tweeted.

Naturally, he got a lot of responses.

“From fighting red coats to red commies; #2A is meant to defend our individual liberties from tyranny,” one user said.

Another simply accused him of being “racist.”

But O’Neill has a point here. The Second Amendment was not created for hunting or recreation. It was put in place as a protective measure for private citizens, in the event that they needed to defend themselves against potential harm — be it domestic or otherwise.

Sadly, many Second Amendment critics are ignorant to the history of our Constitution. But Rob O’Neill is happy to educate them whenever he gets a spare moment. Earlier this month, he called out gun control activists for their uninformed stance on the issue.

“Most people who call the @NRA a terrorist organization have never met an actual terrorist,” he said.

Part of what makes our country great is the fact that our citizens can have open and productive debates about hot button issues like gun control. But if you ever find yourself on the opposing side of the guy who delivered Osama’s final blow, you may want to reassess your stance.
