Tony Romo is playing on a sponsor’s exemption in the Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championship this week and has been predictably grabbing headlines for his display.

Aside from his totally weak swing that looks more like a preteen girl trying to work a butter knife, I didn’t think he seemed half bad.

But this is Tony Romo. And we know better than to expect his performances to be legendary.

It seems like things started going off the rails sometime around mid-afternoon on Thursday. He looked pretty solid until the 12th hole, when he suddenly started to get “nervous.”

He finished Thursday with 5 strokes over 77, just one place shy from being dead last.

“I was nervous,” he said. “I three-putted like three times in the round. Hopefully that’s just nerves.”

Yeah, hopefully. Poor Tony Romo. It’s gotta be tough golfing in the Dominican where everybody’s clamoring to be your friend and definitely sugar coating that atrocious performance. Just like they do with his announcing. Besides, the final outcome of this Championship doesn’t matter. It’s not like Romo needs the money. He can just sit back and still manage take home more media infatuation than the top 3 finishers in this thing. I don’t feel bad for Tony Romo. And if you start to, remember how many play calls he spoiled for you during the 2017 NFL season. Then get back to me.
