Two female protagonists in the CW hit series “Smallville” may have won over the hearts of viewers in the Superman prequel, but they’ve allegedly been doing something very different since the show’s conclusion.

The two woman allegedly got caught up in the violent sex cult NXIVM (pronounced “nexium”), which recruits and exploits sex slaves based on blackmail. The cult’s leader, Keith Raniere, reportedly recruited Kristin Kreuk (who played Clark Kent’s love interest, Lana Lang) and Allison Mack (who played Chloe Sullivan) sometime around 2005-6.

According to Frank Parlato, who broke the story in June, Kreuk allegedly recruited her former costar Mack to join the cult and work to find young female sex slaves.

But Kreuk got out of the cult in 2012 before things took a turn for the worse. Shortly after her departure, NXIVM allegedly began beating and branding sex workers with 2 inch x 2 inch burns, which combined both Allison Mack and Keith Raniere’s initials.

The cult also reportedly included a variety of mental and physical manipulation to keep women subservient. In 2017, the Daily Mail reported the following:

DOS operates as a master-slave hierarchy, with Raniere at the top and Mack as his immediate subordinate. From there, Mack has several slaves of her own who are then ordered to recruit a group of slaves themselves, and it spreads down from there like a pyramid scheme.

Women in the group are allegedly kept on a 500- to 800-calorie a day diet because Raniere likes thin women and believes fat ‘interferes’ with his energy levels, Parlato claims.

DOS stands for “Dominos Obsequious Sororium,” which means Master Over the Slave Women. Mack is reported to have established the sorority based off Raniere’s teachings. It serves as a sort of training camp for NXIVM and sends a pipeline of sex workers to Raniere’s cult, where he’s known as the “Vanguard.”

Parlato also claims that sex slaves were beaten if they were not properly responsive to their masters. He says that Allison Mack was the first person to introduce corporeal punishment to NXIVM and sex slaves were often beaten with paddles and harassed if they were disobedient.

Keith Raniere was arrested and charged with sex trafficking and conspiracy to commit forced labour in Mexico on Sunday, where he had been running the cult in part because the age of consent is 12. Allison Mack is likely to be arrested shortly, ArtVoice reports. The site also obtained a grainy photograph of Mack looking dirty and unwell. She’s supposedly the one in the video clip obtained by The Sun, which shows her looking pretty upset about Raniere’s arrest. If found guilty, Raniere could face life in prison.

It’s important to keep in mind that all of this is alleged at this point. But it’s a pretty bad look for the former “Smallville” actresses, no matter what happens.
