The Villanova Wildcats have won their second national championship in three years after rolling over the Michigan Wolverines in San Antonio Monday night.

Michigan came out swinging early against a heavily favored Villanova team, but as halftime approached the Wildcats began to take control of the game. After a competitive first half that held a lot of promise, Villanova ran away with it in the second half on their way to a 79-62 victory over Big Blue.
The number one seeded Villanova team went into the championship game as seven-point favorites against three-seed Michigan and proved themselves as the best team in the nation as the game progressed.

Michigan started the game off strong, leading for much of the first half, but Villanova’s Donte DiVincenzo kept the cats in the game coming off the bench with 18 points in the first half. The sixth man of the year continued to serve as a spark for the Wildcats in the second half adding another 13 points for a total of 31 in the championship game, making him an easy choice for the MVP of the game. Mikal Bridges was the only other Villanova player to score in double-digits with 19 points.

Two years ago Villanova stole the title away from North Carolina with a last second shot for the ages. This year they reclaimed it in dominant fashion to become national champions once again.
